The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is planning to issue "smart cards" to over 10 lakh children studying in its primary schools, containing the full details of students.Chairman of MCD Education Committee Mahinder Nagpal today said the card will have the student's name, address, health status and blood group. These cards can also be used for availing benefits under multi-purpose schemes, he said.He said the civic agency recently issued identity cards to children studying in its schools."However, the validity of identity cards is only for one year. Every year, new identity cards will have to be issued leading to additional financial burden. Therefore, the Education Department is considering the proposal of issuing smart cards," he said. These smart cards will be issued one-time and only the class, year and roll number will be changed every year through computers.
