Ten people were killed and eight others injured when a mini bus in which they were travelling fell into a gorge at Koofi area of hilly Almora district, a police official said today.
 
The incident occurred when the bus, carrying a total of 18 passengers, was going to Gaulikhal from Ramnagar town in Nainital district last night. The bus skidded off the road and fell into the 450 feet deep gorge, deputy superintendent of police RS Jayant said.
 
While eight persons died on the spot, two others succumbed to their injuries, he said.
 
The injured have been admitted to a hospital in Ramnagar, he said, adding two critically wounded have been referred to a hospital in Haldwani.
