SRINAGAR: A woman was killed and 17 persons, including six policemen, were injured on Sunday in a grenade attack by militants in Srinagar.

The attack on a police patrol was in Sopore.

"Six policemen and a dozen bystanders were hurt in the explosion triggered by militants," a police spokesman said, adding the attackers escaped.

"An injured women died in hospital," he said.

The town was bustling with activity as shoppers looked for goods at roadside stalls.

Two grenade attacks in Sopore on Saturday left six paramilitary men and two civilians injured.

Police have announced a reward of Rs 100,000 and a government job for information leading to the arrest of those involved in grenade attacks across Kashmir.
