In a freak accident on the site of an upcoming infrastructural project, one person died and five others were injured, including the labour contractor. The incident took place at the site of 'Shapath', a new venture by Savvy Infrastructure, whose construction began only some time back. Labourers were in the process of constructing the basement of the building, and digging work was going on, when a part of the basement collapsed. The fire brigade was immediately called in, and six people buried under the pile of mud were soon dug out. However, the rescue operation came a little too late for Kanu Pinghiya (25). He was in a critical condition when brought out by fire officials, and could not survive the accident. Pinghiya is survived by his wife who also works on the site. Those who were seriously injured were Umesh Nathaji (20), Sanshu, the labour contractor, Bhuri Kanubhai (25) and Mukesh Chatrish (25).
