Now, both TMC and BJP are pointing fingers at each other about who is responsible for this condemnable act. While Amit Shah posted several questions in a press conference and also shared pictures, TMC posted several video clips as 'proof' that BJP indulged in violence. Union Minister Babul Supriyo shared a viral post of an 'eyewitness', who claimed that the entire matter was a conspiracy hatched by TMC students union members.

BJP president asked:

1. College gate was closed and it suffered no scratches. Then how did BJP workers enter the campus?

2. Who have the keys to relevant entrances?

3. Police was there always with the BJP workers. Then how come they entered and police didn't intervene

Shah also dared authorities to probe the matter to find out who is guilty behind it. Shah said that BJP workers were outside and TMC cadres broke the statue to earn sympathy from the voters.

Amit Shah said that thrice the roadshow was attacked and bottles filled with kerosene and petrol were thrown at him. BJP President said that he managed to escape narrowly owing to presence of CRPF workers.

Amit Shah was quoted by ANI as saying, "We were outside and the gates of the college -- Vidyasagar College -- were locked. The gate is not broken because TMC goons were inside hurling stones and petrol bombs at us. Moreover, the statue of Vidyasagar was locked inside the college room and still vandalised. The administration is of Banerjee government. The statue was vandalised by the TMC for political gains," he said.

Babul Supriyo said that no way BJP supporters could have entered hostel and reach the statue that was deep inside the premises.

The viral post writeen by a person called Biraj Narayan Roy says:

"I am a student of Vidyasagar college, I am a student of Calcutta University. But what TMCP has done today using two of the institutions I am proud is extremely condemnable and shameful.

I live near Vidyasagar college, hence I have seen the entire incident from a vantage point. BJP rally was peaceful, and stones were pelted on it from inside the campus. After the roadshow passed, TMCP workers set bike on fire.

Now, coming to the question of bust being broken, the Vidyasagar bust is present deep inside the campus. One has to cross two doors, one of iron and one of steel to reach that place. How did BJP workers managed to do it when TMC cadres were already there equipped with stones".
