At a time when social media is enraged about a TikTok video on mob lynching, an older video of actor Ajaz Khan has surfaced in which he urges Muslims to rise up against mob lynching.

In a video posted on social media on June 28, actor Ajaz Khan urged 40 crore Muslims – legal and illegal – to rise up and take to the streets to protest incidents of mob lynching.

In the video, which some have called communal, Khan blamed the RSS and Bajrang Dal for ‘forcing people chant Jai Shri Ram’ and accused PM Modi of shielding them. Goading the Muslim community, he asked them to come out on the streets and ‘shut down the country’.

He said he wouldn’t use the honorific ‘aap’ for PM Modi and instead call him ‘tu’ if he didn’t act. He alleged that PM Modi – as a former RSS member – shielded the mob.

He went on to call Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse a terrorist and said those who forced people to chant Jai Shi Ram considered Godse their god.

He went on to claim that if he ever encountered such a mob, he’d force them to chant Allah-u-Akbar instead of Jai Shri Ram.

He gave the recent example of Mukherjee Nagar and said the Sikh community showed 'unity'.

He asked Muslims to skip work for one day and take to the streets. He said: “When will my brothers wearing caps come out on streets? We topiwalas, we don't need to hit anyone, we just need to go out once. One day we should avoid work and just go out .”He went on to say that he would keep ‘spreading this message’ till he died.

Khan had been arrested by Navi Mumbai Police last year for drug possession. .

Khan who has been associated in the television industry has worked in some films and serials and in 2016, Khan was arrested for sending obscene photos and abusive messages to a hair stylist.

The cyber cell of the city police has registered an FIR against a group of people for allegedly circulating a video on TikTok related to the mob lynching of Tabrez Ansari in Jharkhand.

A complaint into the matter was filed with the Mumbai Police by Shiv Sena activist Ramesh Solanki. The activist has said that TikTok has since deleted the video and also suspended the accounts of three people who circulated it.

"I have been informed by TikTok that the video was removed from the platform and the three accounts were suspended after my complaint. Suspension in TikTok means that they can not log into their accounts and can't post anything there," said Solanki.
