SLINEX2018: Indian Navy all set for war games with Sri Lanka
SLINEX series of bilateral maritime exercises were initiated in 2005 and since then five successful engagements have been conducted, Indian Navy said.

1.Three Indian Navy ships are taking part in the SLINEX exercise at Trincomalee, Sri Lanka
Indian Naval Ships Kirch, Sumitra and Cora Divh entered Trincomalee, Sri Lanka to participate in the sixth edition of SLINEX 2018, a bilateral Naval Exercise between India and Sri Lanka, from 07 to 13 September 2018.

Besides three Indian Navy ships, one ship-borne integral helicopter and two Maritime Patrol Aircraft Dornier are also participating in the exercise.

3.Aircrew of Indian Navy's Dornier aircraft to participate in SLINEX 2018
The exercise is being conducted in two phases, with the harbour phase from 07 to 10 September 2018 at Trincomalee during which, the participants will engage in professional, sporting and social interactions. The Harbour Phase will be followed by the Sea Phase from 11 to 13 September 2018 in the Bay of Bengal off Trincomalee and will include gun firings, communication procedures, seamanship as well as navigation evolutions and helicopter operations.

The inaugural ceremony of the exercise held onboard SLNS Sayurala was attended by Rear Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet of Indian Navy and Rear Admiral SA Weerasinghe, Commander Eastern Naval Area and Rear Admiral Ananda Kumar Guruge, Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet of the Sri Lankan Navy, the navy said in a statement on Friday.

Sri Lankan Navy is represented by SLN Ships Sayurala, Samudra and Suranimala at SLINEX-18. SLINEX which was previously held once in two years is scheduled to be held as an annual event this year onwards.

7.Indian Navy's Dornier Aircraft at SLINEX-2018
Two Maritime Patrol Aircraft Dornier are participating in the naval exercise that commenced on Friday. The joint naval drill is expected to be joined by 03 Sri Lanka Navy Ships, 03 Indian Navy Ships together with 1,000 naval personnel from both countries.

9.6th edition of SLINEX will take place from September 7-13
SLINEX over the years has helped both the Navies in understanding each other's procedures and enhanced interoperability, the Indian Navy said. This edition of the exercise will further strength ties between the two maritime neighbours and contribute towards maritime security in the region, it added.
