The CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General of India) report on Capital Acquisitions by Indian Air Force, including Rafale deal, was tabled in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, the last day of the Budget session.

The CAG report states that the NDA deal is 2.86% cheaper than UPA's proposed deal.

It also says that the 126 aircraft deal, India managed to save 17.08% money for the India Specific Enhancements in the 36 Rafale contract.

The Rafale jet deal controversy has been the talk of the town since quite some time now, with the Congress and other opposition parties alleging irregularities in the high-profile deal.

The fighter jet in question is a twin-engine Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft, which security analysts believe can be a 'game-changer' for India's defence system.

During a press conference on Monday, Congress President Rahul Gandhi asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi facilitated loot in Rafale deal as according to a media report he had removed the anti-corruption clause from the controversial fighter jet deal.

A day later, on Tuesday, he used a fresh media report to allege that the prime minister had acted as a “middleman” for industrialist Anil Ambani in the Rafale fighter deal and accused him of violating the Official Secrets Act (OSA) and indulging in “treason” for which “action must be initiated.

However, on Wednesday, after the CAG report was tabled in the Upper House, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley lashed out at the Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi for spreading lies and calling the PM names.

He also said that the CAG report has completely vindicated stand of NDA Govt. It has blasted the big lie which was being spearheaded by the Congress.

He further went on to say that the Congress President had manufactured a statistic 500 vs 1600, data which doesn't exist anywhere. He repeated that lie ad nauseam.
