In the run-up to the poll battle 2019, political leaders across party lines have hit a new low in making personal attacks on their opponents.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav Thursday directed party workers not to make indecent comments against women after the National Commission for Women (NCW) pulled up a party leader for allegedly making sexist remarks against actor-turned-politician Jaya Prada, who was inducted into BJP few days ago.
A case has also been lodged against Khan for allegedly making sexist remarks against actor-turned-politician Jaya Prada. Superintendent of Police Jamuna Prasad said the case was filed at the Hayat Nagar police station on Thursday night and the investigation has started.
Reacting to media reports on Khan's comments, NCW Under Secretary Barnali Shome said, "The remarks are not only sexist but also extremely offensive, unethical and shows disrespect towards the dignity of women in general." Jaya Prada, who is a former Samajwadi Party MP, joined the BJP on Tuesday.

"Pappu kehta hai main prime minister banunga Mayawati, Akhilesh Yadav, Pappu.. aur ab 'Pappu ki Pappi' bhi aa gayi hai. Wo Priyanka kya pehle hamare desh ki beti nahi thi kya, Congress ki beti nahi thi kya, aage nahi rahegi kya? kya naya leke aayi hai?" the minister told a crowd of his supporters on March 16.
