Ram Temple 'Bhoomi Pujan': Religious rituals leading upto grand ceremony begin from August 3

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra has begun preparations for the event and the "Bhoomi Pujan" will be performed with much grandeur, albeit with tight security arrangements and safety protocols in place, especially due to the raging coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic outbreak.

A team of 21 brahmins are performing various `anushthans` (religious ceremonies) for past over 100 days and on the day PM will perform `bhoomi pujan`, it will be 109 days of these religious prayers.

Speaking to ANI, Ashok Tiwari, Sant sampark pramukh and central office secretary Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) said that Ganesh pooja will be performed on August 3 followed by Ram archana on August 4.

"The prayers that we were supposed to do today at Hanuman garhi will now be undertaken on Tuesday along with Nishaan pooja. Nishaan (symbol) worshipping are rituals and prayers conducted by various Akharas as these symbols represent lord Hanuman," stated Tiwari.

Depending on the day`s significance, the idol of Ram Lalla is likely to don different coloured attires from Monday onwards till August 5, the day for `bhoomi pujan` for the grand temple`s construction in Ayodhya, said Acharya Satyendra Das, chief priest of the makeshift temple on Sunday.

"From tomorrow onwards till August 5, we will dress Ram Lalla as per the day`s significance. For tomorrow, i.e. Monday, it would be white clothes, for Tuesday it would be red clothes and for Wednesday it would be green clothes," Acharya Das told ANI.

"We have also kept an option of yellow and saffron clothes," he added.

Pandit Kalki Ram, president of Ramdal Seva Trust on Sunday handed over the clothes for Ram Lalla`s idol to the chief priest, ahead of foundation stone laying ceremony of Ram temple in Ayodhya."I have collected the clothes for Ram Lalla from the tailor, and handed over to the chief priest Satyendra Das Ji.

The local administration has also held a series of meetings with security forces ahead of the Ram Temple event on August 5, in which a number of important politicians and high-profile members of the Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust are expected to be present.

The Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Ayodhya has said that the security arrangements for foundation stone laying ceremony of Ram Temple on August 5 are in place. COVID-19 protocols will be followed. He requested everyone to not let more than five people gather at a place. Route diversions at 12 places have been to ease traffic movement.

Holy water from Triveni Sangamam or Mukkudal of Kanyakumari and Cauvery river and sacred soil from Tamil Nadu have been sent to Ayodhya where the 'Bhoomi Pujan' ceremony for Lord Ram's grand temple will be performed.
