Pulwama terror attack: Jaish-e-Mohammed claimed responsibility of the attack with a video of alleged suicide bomber Adil Ahmad Dar.

At least 40 CRPF personnel were killed as an explosives-laden vehicle rammed into the bus carrying the jawans in Jammu and Kashmir on Srinagar-Jammu highway in Awantipora area of Pulwama district. Minutes after the ghastly attack on a CRPF convoy in Awantipora town of Pulwama, Jaish-e-Mohammad, the outfit which claimed responsibility for the attack, released a video of the person believed to have carried out the fidayeen strike.

JeM identified the suicide bomber as Adil Ahmad Dar alias Waqas Commando of Gundibagh, Kakpora of Pulwama. A video of Adil Ahmad Dar alias Waqas was released by JeM soon after the terror attack. In the video, that was most probably shot before Adil Dar went about his suicide mission in Pulwama, the terrorist talks about atrocities on Kashmiri Muslims. Adil Dar can be seen brandishing rifles and standing in front of Jaish-e-Mohammed banners in the video.

Adil Ahmad Dar claims in the video he joined the ranks of Jaish-e-Mohammed last year and after a year, he has been "assigned" the task of the deadly attack. He adds that when the video is released, he will be in jannat (heaven). In a statement released with the video, a Jaish-e-Mohammed spokesperson Muhammad Hassan said that "dozens of forces' vehicles were destroyed in the attack."

In the video, Adil Ahmad Dar alias Waqas can sitting in the backdrop of the Jaish flag, brandishing several sophisticated automatic rifles. He started the video by saying, "By the time this video reaches you, I will be in heaven, I have spent one year as a militant with JeM and this is my last message for the people of Kashmir."

Adil Ahmad Dar alias Waqas talked about previous attacks against India carried out by Jaish including the ICA18 hijacking, 2001 Parliament attack, Nagrota attack, Uri attack, and Pathankot IAF base attack. He also mentioned the recent sniper and IED attacks against security forces in Kashmir.

According to reports in local media, Adil Dar went missing in March 2016 with two other friends -- Tauseef and Waseem. Tauseef's elder brother Manzoor Ahmad Dar was a militant who was killed in 2016. Adil was a dropout from school and was working as a mason. He also led prayers in local mosque. He has two brothers.

This is now the biggest militant attacks in Kashmir against security forces in the last two decades. In 2001, JeM carried out a suicide bomb attack outside the Srinagar secretariat killing 38 people and injuring 40. This attack is also bigger than the Uri attack in 2016 where 19 army men were killed.
