On Friday, Election Commission wrote to CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury saying that PM Modi’s address to the nation on Mission Shakti didn’t violate the Model Code of Conduct as public broadcasters DD and AIR were not used.
Election Commission said PM Modi's "Mission Shakti" speech didn't violate Model Code of Conduct (MCC); states, "Committee has reached to conclusion that MCC provision regarding misuse of official mass media as contained in Para (IV) of Part VII of MCC isn't attracted in the case"
The EC wrote: “The telecast wasn’t live, the source of the video used was received from news agency ANI. PM Modi’s address was also telecast on 60 news channels. AIR broadcast PM Modi’s message by patching the signal of Doordarshan News and no broadcast or technical professional of AIR went to record PM and no production activity was involved. “
