Partial lockdown in Maharashtra: List of what's allowed, what's not

Maharashtra has announced a night curfew to curb the virus spread. The state will be put under night curfew from 8 pm to 7 am from Monday (April 5).

Maharashtra will enter strict weekend lockdown from Friday 8 pm to Monday 7 am, said state Cabinet Minister Nawab Malik adding that essential services and transportation including buses, trains and taxis will be allowed. The decision was taken in a Cabinet meeting today in view of surging COVID-19 cases.

Malik said the government will also impose a night curfew across the state from 8 pm to 7 am from Monday, allowing only essential services to operate during those hours.

Restrictions imposed by Maharashtra govt to curb COVID-19 spread-

1. Private offices

Private offices, except in the Banking and insurance sectors, will remain shut in Maharashtra from Monday night when strict restrictions come into force, state Health Minister Rajesh Tope said on Sunday. He said employees of other private offices will be allowed to work from home.

2. Government offices

Government offices will function at 50 percent of their capacity and the rest of the employees will work from home, except the staffers of the essential services related to the pandemic management (who will have to report to work), Tope said.

3. Night curfew timings

The night curfew will be in force from 8 pm to 7 am from Monday. During day time, section 144 will be in force from tomorrow prohibiting more than five people to gather at one place.

4. Restaurants, bars to remain shut

Salon, spas, malls, restaurants and bars will be shut and theatres will be closed. Bars will close after 8 pm. Take away services will continue.

5. Religious places

6. Transport services

On weekend, all things except essential services will remain closed but transport services will continue. Transportation will permit passengers to travel based on their sitting capacity. Rickshaw, Taxi and personal vehicles will commute with 50 per cent sitting capacity during the day and they are not allowed during the night.

7. Containment zone

If more than 4 COVID positive patients are found in a society, the building will be considered as a mini containment zone.

8. E-commerce services

E-commerce services

E-commerce services will continue to operate, however, it will be mandatory for employees to take COVID-19 jabs.
