Pakistan's 5-point plan after India's J&K move: Bilateral trade suspended, Indian envoy expelled

The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Reacting to India's move ending special status for Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcate it into union territories, Pakistan on Wednesday came up with a five-point plan which includes suspension of bilateral trade and expelling Indian envoy to Islamabad. 

The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan. 

A Pak government statement said that the committee discussed situation arising out of" unilateral and illegal actions" by the Indian government, situation inside Jammu and Kashmir and along the Line of Control (LoC). 

The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister, Defence Minister, Interior Minister, Minister for Education, Minister for Human Rights, Minister for KA&GB, Law Minister, Adviser Finance, CJCSC, COAS, CAS, V-CNS, SAPM on Information, DG-ISI, DG-ISPR, Secretary Foreign Affairs and other senior officers.

Pakistan has asked Indian High Commissioner in Islamabad Ajay Bisaria to go back as part of their downgrading process. Mueenul Haq, the newly-appointed Pakistan High Commissioner to India, will not take the charge as he was expected to do this month.

 

"Pursuant to the decision of the National Security Committee today, the Government of India has been told to withdraw its High Commissioner to Pakistan. The Indian Government has also been informed that Pakistan will not be sending its High Commissioner-designate to India," a statement by the Pak Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. 

 

3. Review of bilateral arrangements
