Offering to mediate between India and Pakistan on Kashmir, Trump said Kashmir has a lot to do with religion.
All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi why his government was silent on US President Donald Trump's remarks that Muslims and Hindus "don't get along so great."
Offering to mediate between India and Pakistan on Kashmir, Trump said, "A lot has to do with religion. You have the Hindus, and you have the Muslims. This has been going on for decades."
This came after he held telephonic conversations with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The Hyderabad MP questioned the government's silence on Trump's remarks and asked if by not clarifying, "are we accepting we have a problem with both communities?"

"India and Pakistan are having talks for Hundreds of years even under different names but this is about Kashmir, Kashmir is a very complicated place. You have Hindus and you have the Muslims and I wouldn’t say they get along so great, That's what you have right now and you have millions of people who wanna be ruled by others and may on both sides and you have two countries that haven't got along well for a long time and frankly, it's a very explosive the situation I spoke to PM Khan and I spoke yesterday also with PM Modi they r friends of mine they r great ppl and they love their countries and they were in a very tough situation Kashmir."

"...Kashmir is a very tough situation and you know we are talking about this has been going on for decades shooting ...I don't mean shooting a rifle ..major shooting of heavy arms and it's been going on for a long period of time but I really well with both of them as you know PM Khan was here just recently and I am gonna with PM Modi I will be with him over a weekend in France so I think we r helping the situation but there are tremendous problems between those two countries as you know ..and I will do the best I can to meditate or do something we have great relationship with both of them but they are not exactly friends at this moment.. complicated situation a lot has to do with religion ... religions are a complicated subject."
