Lok Sabha election 2019: With each day passing in the run-up to the high-stakes Lok Sabha elections, new developments are taking across party lines as they pre-up for the most crucial elections of the year. From parties announcing candidates list or attacking each other to gain political mileage to leader switching parties and new inductions, take a look at all that happened today in March 22nd elections round-up.

1. 'Mahagatbandhan' announces seat-sharing for 2019

'Mahagatbandhan' announces seat-sharing for 2019

The Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) in Bihar which comprises of parties — Congress, RJD, Jitan Ram Manjhi's Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) (HAM-S), Mukhesh Sahni's Vikassheel Insan Party (VIP) and CPI (Marxist-Leninist), announced seat-sharing for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls 2019. According to a joint announcement of the Mahagathbandhan parties, Lalu Prasad's RJD will contest on 20 seats, Congress on 9 seats, Manjhi's and Mukhesh Sahni's party will contest on 3 seats each. CPI will contest on 1 seat while Upendra Kushwaha's Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) will contest on 5 seats. Read the full story here.

In the presence of Union Ministers Arun Jaitley and Ravi Shankar Prasad, cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir joined BJP on Friday. Joining the party, Gambhir said that he was inspired from PM Modi, hence joined the BJP. BJP president Amit Shah made an all-out-attack at the Congress party and said that its campaign was in shambles. Amit Shah defended BJP Karnataka chief BS Yeddyurappa after a media report had alleged that Rs 1800 crore were paid by former Karnataka chief minister Yeddyurappa to the BJP's top brass. Amit Shah said, "After all the fake issues have collapsed, the desperate are now relying on forgery. The Congress campaign is in shambles. Now even forgery can’t save them. Few loose sheets given by a Congress minister is only as credible and reliable as Rahul Gandhi’s leadership skills." The Congress party might have to replace its Lok Sabha candidate Navinchandra Bandiwadekar who has been fielded from Ratnagiri – Sindhudurg constituency. The party is likely to make this move after a controversy erupted the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) — Congress' ally in Maharashtra — leader Jitendra Awhad alleged that Bandiwadekar was associated with hardcore Hindu organisation Sanatan Sanstha. Congress party chief Rahul Gandhi's close aide and Chairman of the Overseas Indian National Congress Sam Pitroda landed himself up in a controversy after he raised questions on the IAF strikes in Balakot, Pakistan. Pitroda questioned the death toll of terrorists in the Balakot airstrike conducted by the Indian Air Force in Pakistan. 

Raising his doubt, Pitroda said, "If they (IAF) killed 300, it's ok. All I am saying is can you give me more facts and prove it."

Sharing his views on the airstrike against the Jaish-e-Mohammad camp in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region, he said that international news outlets had an alternate view of the impact of the air strike and that the people of India deserved to know the facts of the Air Force operation.
