JEE (Main) 2020: Exam begins with strict COVID-19 protocols, students abide by social distancing norms

The NTA has taken appropriate measures to conduct the JEE (Main) 2020 exams amid the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. According to the agency, over 99% of candidates have been assigned their 'first choice of center cities'.

 

More than 8.5 lakh students are appearing for the exams. The JEE (Main) 2020 exams will be held at 660 centers across the country from September 1 to September 6.

8.58 lakh students have registered for the JEE (Main) 2020 exam, which is being conducted in two shifts - 9 AM to 12 AM and
3 PM to 6 PM shifts.

 

Upon conversation with students and parents outside the exam centers, it is clear that the pupils are happy. Students are saying that it's good that the JEE (Mains) 2020 test is underway since the students' year will not be wasted.

 

 

• The entire area around the exam seat and its surroundings will be sanitized before each shift.
   
• Monitors, keyboards, icons, webcams, desks, and chairs will all be sanitized.
   
• Door handles, ladder railings, and lift buttons will also be sanitized.
   
• There will be a gap between two seats as per government guidelines.
   
• There will be a provision of hand sanitizer for students and staff outside the examination center (entry point) and at many places inside.

• 5 A4 size rough sheets will be placed for rough work on each seat before the commencement of the examination. Rough sheets will be kept by the invigilator who will be wearing gloves. More rough sheets will be provided as and when required.

• No one will be allowed to leave the exam room before the exam is over. Candidates whose body temperature is more than 99.4 degrees Fahrenheit will be taken to the isolation room. He will sit there and give the examination.

 

1. In view of the coronavirus pandemic, NTA has added precautionary measures for the candidates to follow, which includes a self-declaration form attached to JEE Main admit card. Candidates appearing for the exam will have to sign the declaration and submit on the day of the exam.

The JEE Main undertaking includes various fields like travel information of the candidate, any flu-like symptoms (cough, breathlessness, fever, etc) they have and any close contacts with COVID-19 positive patients during the last 14 days.

2. On the day of the exam, the candidate has to bring the undertaking given on the admit card at page-1 (duly filled in, except his/her signature which he/she will be required to do in the presence of Invigilator). This undertaking is in addition to the one filled online at the time of downloading the admit card.

1. No Candidate would be allowed to enter the examination centre without admit card, valid ID proof and proper frisking. Frisking through Handheld Metal Detector (HHMD) will be carried out without touching the body.

2. Candidates are allowed to carry only the following items with them into the examination venue:

• A coloured A4 sized printout of admit card along with self-declaration (Undertaking)
• A transparent ballpoint pen
• An additional photograph to be pasted on the attendance sheet
• Personal hand sanitizer (50 ml)
• Personal transparent water bottle

3. Candidates are also required to carry original and photocopy of identity proof such as PAN card, driving license, voter ID, passport, or Aadhaar card.
