Author-yogini Ira Trivedi was in the eye of the storm recently over her old comments which were called ‘anti-Hindu’ by a lot of Twitter users.

In a 2017, interview Trivedi called beef the ‘cheapest source or protein’ while panning the ‘ban’ on beef saying.

Soon Twitter users started circulating old tweets in which she allegedly called Quran a ‘progressive text’ and called ‘modern Hinduism regressive’.

Responding to the outrage, Prasar Bharti CEO took cognisance of the complaint and raised it with his team.

There were reports that the show had subsequently been dropped.

Meanwhile, Trivedi wrote on Twitter: “It has been an honour for me to serve the nation by doing this show for a very nominal govt mandated rate. I have shows on several other platforms, but I was happy to do the DD show in Hindi as it could reach and benefit a large number of people. Many of whom are NOT on twitter. I am proud to be Indian, proud to be Hindu and proud to have a Prime Minister like  @narendramodi who supports, promoted and does yoga. Jai Hind.

She further wrote: “To all haters/ trolls, it is adharmic and against the principals of Hinduism and Yoga (ahimsa is a Yama of Ashtanga Yoga) to create such a violent atmosphere here. Again, I seek forgiveness for hurting any sentiments and I retract any statements that would have caused hurt.”

She added: "Eating meat is a personal choice though, and I know that many spiritual practitioners including Tibetan Buddhists (and even the Dalai Lama) follow a non veg diet. I apologise for any of my comments which may have offended anyone.I apologise for any of my comments which may have offended anyone. I also deeply cherish, respect and live by Hindu Dharma, please ignore any screenshots of tweets that may have been taken out of context. I respect all religions and texts, but Hinduism is at the heart of my practice"
