India in lockdown over coronavirus: Day 7 in pictures

The nation is in a complete lockdown till April 14 in view of the coronavirus pandemic and everything except for essential services is closed.

The 21-days-lockdown entered its 7th day on Tuesday. 

Even day 7 witnessed empty roads, closed shops, and social distancing in ration shops and vegetable vendors. 

On 7th day, police and paramilitary personnel cordoned off an area in Nizamuddin West in south Delhi after the authorities were alerted that several people who took part in a religious congregation showed symptoms of coronavirus. 

On day 7th, the government also extended the validity of driving licenses, vehicle registration expired after Feb 1 till June 30.

The number of positive coronavirus cases in India crossed 1,200 on Tuesday as the global death toll due to deadly virus crossed 37,000. 

Till the time this article was written, the confirmed cases in India stand at 1251, the number of deaths recorded is 32, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Monday. Out of these, 1117 are active cases while 101 have been discouraged after treatment.

With 223 cases, Maharashtra is the most affected state in the country, followed by Kerala with 221.

India has imposed a 21-day lockdown till April 14 to combat the spread of novel coronavirus. While initially, only the supplies of essential goods were allowed during the lockdown period, the Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday said transportation of all goods, without distinction of essential and non-essential, have been allowed. 

Worldwide, coronavirus cases continue to rise dramatically, with the number of infections nearing 8 lakh on Monday. The global death toll has crossed 37,000.
