The heavy snowfall in these states have impacted the temperature of entire North India.
Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir woke up to a thick carpet of snow bringing cheers to the people, especially tourists.
The cold wave conditions intensified across Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir on Monday with fresh snowfall in the higher reaches and rains in lower hills, the MeT department said.
The maximum temperature has fallen in most parts of both the states and more rain and snowfall are predicted this week, Director Shimla MeT centre Manmohan Singh said.

Heavy rain and snowfall are likely in Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, Kinnaur, Chamba, Kangra, Lahaul and Spiti district in the next three days.
While in Kashmir, fresh snowfall was witnessed in the higher reaches and rains lashed the plains even as there was some respite from cold wave for valley residents.
Moderate rains lashed the plains of Kashmir from early hours of Monday while there were reports of snowfall in higher reaches of the valley, officials said here.
The MeT Office has forecast widespread rain and snow over the state with heavy falls at isolated places till Tuesday.
The heavy snowfall in these states have impacted the temperature of North India. Delhi received light rainfall on Monday, a day after recording the warmest January day since 2012. The minimum temperature was recorded at 11.5 degrees Celsius, four notches above the season's average while the maximum temperature was 22.6 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average.
The weatherman has forecast generally cloudy sky for Tuesday with the possibility of light to moderate rain/thundershowers and isolated hailstorm.

1. Spiti receives 18 cm of snow
On Monday, the tribal district Lahaul and Spiti's administrative centre Keylong received 18 cm of snow, Dalhousie got 10 cm of snow followed by 6.4 cm of snow at Kalpa, 4 cm in Pooh and Sangla each and one cm of snow was registered at Kufri.

2. Mild snowfall in Shimla, Nahan & Mandi
There was mild snowfall in Shimla, Nahan and Mandi. Besides, 0.6 to 6 mm of rain was received in Sundernagar, Bhuntar, Dharamshala, Nahan, Palampur, Solan, Manali, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba, Amb and Tissa on Monday.
