In Pics: From Ambedkar to Gandhi, things that have turned 'saffron' in Yogi's UP

Under the Yogi Adityanath government, the UP State Haj house, Mughalsarai Railway station, statues of Gandhi and Ambedkar, toll plazas, and police stations have been painted in saffron colour.

After painting CM's Office, government buildings, Dr Ambedkar’s statute, police stations, toilets etc in saffron hue, now a 20-year-old statue of Mahatma Gandhi was saffronised in Shahjahapur district of Uttar Pradesh. According to police, the white-coloured statue of Mahatma Gandhi, installed at the gram sabha land in Dhaka Ghanshyampur in Shahjahanpur, was painted in saffron colour on Wednesday night by some miscreants.

2.Saffron Ambedkar

Days after a statue of Dalit icon Dr. BR Ambedkar was vandalised in April, it has been restored in Badaun region of Uttar Pradesh. However, it has been painted saffron in colour. After outrage, the statue was restored to blue later. 

3.Saffron toll plaza

A toll plaza on the Muzaffarnagar-Saharanpur highway here was painted saffron on Sunday. After secretariat building, dividers, statues, this time a toll plaza was given a makeover after the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came into power in the state.

 

4.Saffron Haj House

The Haj House was painted saffron in January. However, after strong reactions from Muslim ulemas, the state government has ordered to wear off a little saffron colour from the exterior walls of the UP state Haj house. Walls were repainted with light saffron colour on Saturday to take off the bright saffron colour.

5.Saffron Mughal Sarai

The Mughalsarai Junction railway station of Uttar Pradesh is being painted saffron ahead of its renaming to Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction railway station. The borders of the railway station are being painted saffron as part of the programme in which the renaming will be done.
