PM Narendra Modi is in Ayodhya for Ram Temple 'Bhoomi Pujan' or foundation stone laying ceremony.
The decades-old contention in the holy land of Ayodhya reached its crucible with the foundation stone being laid for the construction of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple on Wednesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was himself present at the event and took part in the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony.
The entire Ayodhya has been decked up and massive preparations have been made for this occasion with a festive air.
Every street in Ayodhya was seen illuminated with earthen lamps ahead of the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Ram Temple on Wednesday.
Adityanath burst firecrackers and lit earthen lamps at his official residence on in Lucknow as part of 'deepotsava'.
The construction work of Ram temple will begin after the foundation stone laying ceremony, in which dignitaries from various political and religious fields have been invited to participate.
Apart from Ayodhya other cities in like Kanpur were also illuminated to celebrate the grand event. Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) workers light earthen lamps in the city, as part of 'deepotsava'.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will perform 'pooja' at Hanumangarhi and Shree Ramlala Virajman before performing 'bhoomi pujan' of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on Wednesday, informed Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Tuesday.
He will unveil a plaque to mark the laying of the foundation stone and also release Commemorative Postage Stamp on 'Shree Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir'.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Governor Anandiben Patel and BJP national vice president Uma Bharti have arrived at the Ram Janambhoomi site in Ayodhya on the occasion of 'bhoomi pujan' of the Ram temple.
On August 3, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had visited Ayodhya to take stock of the preparations for the 'bhoomi pujan' scheduled to take place today.
Before taking briefing from officials on the minutest details about the preparations, the Chief Minister went straight for the darshan of Ram Lalla.
2. PM Modi leaves for Ayodhya to attend Ram temple 'bhoomi pujan'
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left for Ayodhya from the national capital to take part in the Ram temple 'bhoomi pujan' ceremony scheduled to be held later on Wednesday.
In Ayodhya, Prime Minister Modi's first halt will be at Hanumangarhi temple, marking the first-ever visit by any Prime Minister to this temple. He will also be the first Prime Minister to visit Ram Janmabhoomi site.
3. Ram Temple Bhoomi Pujan to begin at 12:30 pm
The Bhoomi Pujan ceremony for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya will begin at 12:30 pm on Wednesday. It will be carried out between 12:44 pm and 12:45 pm.
On the stage, a total of five people will be present including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.

6. 'Some dreams in life take time but the wait becomes worthwhile,' says LK Advani
The Ram Janmabhoomi movement's guiding force and BJP patriarch L.K. Advani broke his silence late on Tuesday evening on the 'Bhumi Pujan' of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, calling it an "emotional and historical day". He also said it will usher in a 'Ram Rajya', inclusive in nature and epitome of good governance.
"Sometimes significant dreams in one's life take a long time to fruition, but when they are finally realised, the wait becomes very worthwhile. One such dream, close to my heart, is now getting fulfilled," said an emotional Advani.
Noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s laying of the foundation stone for the construction of Ram Mandir is "indeed a historical and emotional day not only for me, but for all Indians", he said that a grand Ram temple at Ram Janmabhoomi has been a "desire and mission" for the Bharatiya Janata Party, which he presided over, for a long time.
