In view of the coronavirus pandemic, the number of guests invited for the Bhoomi Pujan of the Ram Temple have been reduced, reports have said. No chief minister from any state has been invited to the ceremony apart from Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

The rituals preceding the 'bhoomi pujan' of the Ram temple began here on Monday with an elaborate 'Gauri Ganesh' puja.

The three-day rituals that will culminate with the 'bhumi pujan' that will be performed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, began with the Ganesh puja that is considered mandatory for all major occasions in the Hindu religion.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will visit Ayodhya today (i.e. August 3, Monday) to take stock of preparations for the foundation stone-laying ceremony of Ram Temple on August 5.

The Chief Minister was scheduled to visit Ayodhya yesterday but it was cancelled due to the demise of the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Kamal Rani Varun who was receiving treatment for COVID-19.

A team of 21 brahmins are performing various `anushthans` (religious ceremonies) for past over 100 days and on the day PM will perform `bhoomi pujan`, it will be 109 days of these religious prayers.

Speaking to ANI, Ashok Tiwari, Sant sampark pramukh and central office secretary Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) said that Ganesh pooja will be performed on August 3 followed by Ram archana on August 4.
