In what can only be called the height of delusion, a minister in Pakistan has called for Prime Minister Imran Khan to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for "de-escalating tensions" between India and Pakistan even as Islamabad is yet to take any action against Jaish-e-Mohammed, terror group responsible for Pulwama attack which triggered the tension in the first place.

A motion was submitted on Saturday in the National Assembly Secretariat of Pakistan calling for  Imran Khan to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. The motion was submitted by Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, Geo News reported.  This comes a day after Pakistan returned Indian Air Force pilot Abhinandan Varthaman in what it claimed was a "peace gesture".

While Pakistan tried to score brownie points by this so-called "peace gesture" by Imran Khan, the Pakistan government is yet to take any action against Jaish-e-Mohammad which has claimed the terrorist attack in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on February 14. Forty CRPF personnel were killed in the attack by a suicide bomber of the group headed by Masood Azhar.

Hours before the motion to demand Nobel Peace Prize was submitted in Pak National Assembly, country's Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that his government has been in touch with the leadership of the JeM which has denied responsibility for the Pulwama attack.

In an interview to BBC on Friday night, Qureshi said the JeM leadership was contacted and they have not claimed responsibility for Pulwama.

"They have not claimed responsibility of that. There is some confusion on that," he said. When asked to clarify, he said. "The confusion is that the leadership had been contacted and they said no. They deny that. That's the confusion."

Just before he was handed over to Indian authorities, the Pakistan government released a video of Abhinandan in which he gave details as to how he was captured. The heavily-edited video was slammed by many in India and also by some in Pakistan as it was clear that Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was forced to record a statement on camera under duress.

Also, sources said his return, earlier scheduled for 4 pm, was delayed as he was asked to record a statement on camera by Pakistani authorities before he was allowed to cross the border.
