India will celebrate its 70th Republic Day on January 26, 2019, and the States have geared up for the preparations of celebrations. Rehearsals for the Republic Day parade began on Thursday. The rehearsal is being carried out at Rajpath, New Delhi. The rehearsals will continue for four days i.e. January 17,18, 20 and 21 from 9 am to 12 noon. The traffic around Rajpath Marg will remain shut. Furthermore, the parade route extends from Vijay Chowk to India Gate hence Vijaypath will be closed for four hours these days.
A full dress rehearsal of the parade was held at the Rajpath Marg by the Indian soldiers today. India’s military might will also be put on the show. Furthermore, for the first time in Indian history, Assam Rifles Women contingent will also participate in the Republic Day parade. Assam Rifles is one of the country’s oldest Paramilitary Force.
Breath-taking manoeuvres by air force jets, a procession of tableaux presenting a glimpse of India’s cultural heritage and the progress made by the country and all-women marching contingents of the three services, there will be some of the attractions in store for dignitaries and guests at the Republic Day function.
In 2019, many tableaux based on the theme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pet projects like ‘Jan Dhan Yojna’, ‘Maa Ganga’, ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, bullet train and the ‘Make in India’ drive will be in limelight.
