MBBS, BDS seats reserved for children of Corona warriors under central pool

The Union Health and Family Welfare Minister today announced the government's decision to introduce a new category called 'Wards of COVID Warriors' in the guidelines for selection and nomination of candidates against Central Pool MBBS seats for the academic year 2020-21. Harshvardhan said in a tweet, "He is proud to announce a new category for the selection of 'Ward of Covid Warriors' candidates under the Central Pool of MBBS / BDS seats, who laid down their lives while serving the society." 

The Union Health Minister said that the move is intended to honor Corona warriors' outstanding contribution to a coronavirus patient's treatment and management. "It will honor the sacrifice of all COVID warriors serving with duty and selfless dedication to humanity", he said.

Central Pool MBBS seats can be allotted to the selection and nomination of candidates from the wards of "COVID Warriors" who have lost their lives due to COVID-19 or died accidentally in Covid-19 related duty.

Reminding everyone that the definition of COVID Warrior has been defined by the Government of India, announcing an insurance package of ₹ 50 lakh for them. The Minister said, "COVID Warriors are all public healthcare providers, including community health workers, who should be in direct contact and care of COVID-19 patients and may be at risk of being affected by it. Private hospital staff and retired / volunteer / local urban body / contracted / daily pay / ad hoc / outsourced staff who are in the states / central hospitals / Autonomous Hospitals of Central / States / UTs are required by AIIMS and Institutes of National Importance (INI) / Hospitals. All the Central Ministries prepared for the responsibilities related to Covid19 are included." He said that the State / UT The state government will certify eligibility for this category.

The Union Health Minister said that five Central Pool MBBS seats had been reserved for this category for 2020-21. Candidates will be selected through the online application by the Medical Council Committee (MCC) based on the rank obtained in NEET-2020 conducted by the National Testing Agency.

Harshvardhan said that 90-99% of COVID-19 is only about conservation and motivating others. You can protect yourself from this deadly virus with small precautions, such as wearing a good quality mask, maintaining social distance, and taking care of hand hygiene.

According to the Union Ministry of Health's updated data, India's coronavirus caseload has increased to 89.58 lakh with the latest 45,576 infections. In comparison, the number of people suffering from the disease has risen to over 83.83 lakh, raising the national recovery rate to 93.58 percent. 

The total number of coronavirus cases was 89,58,483, with 45,576 infections recorded a day, while the death toll stood at 1,31,578 with 585 new deaths.
