Two Indian soldiers were martyred along the Line of Control (LoC) on November 27 in a ceasefire violation (CFV) by Pakistan in the Sundarbani sector of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir, the army said.

The deceased have been identified as Naik Prem Bahadur Khatri and Rifleman Sukhbir Singh.

"Pak Army resorted to unprovoked CFV on the Line of Control (LoC) in Sunderbani sector of district Rajouri (J&K) on 27 November 2020," said a statement issued by Indian army defence PRO Lt Col Devender Anand.

The Indian troops responded immediately to the enemy fire, as per the army statement.

"In the ensuing fire, two jawans of the Indian army, Naik Prem Bahadur Khatri and Rifleman Sukhbir Singh got critically injured and later succumbed to their injuries," the statement said.

"Naik Prem Bahadur Khatri and Rifleman Sukhbir Singh were brave, highly motivated and sincere soldiers. The nation will always remain indebted to them for their supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty," the statement added.

The incident comes after a junior commissioned officer (JCO) was killed and a civilian was injured on LoC in the Poonch district in a ceasefire violation by Pakistan on November 26.

"Pakistan is continuously violating the ceasefire across LoC and international borders. The only aim looks to push terrorists and ammunition this side," said an army official.

He further said that they were alert and all such plans would be foiled.

Recently, four terrorists reportedly managed to infiltrate the border with a huge cache of arms but were killed at Nagrota in an encounter.
