Lok Sabha Polls 2024 LIVE updates: EC set to announce Lok Sabha poll dates shortly

Phase 1 will be held on April 19, Phase 2 on April 26, Phase 3 on May 7, Phase 4 on May 13, Phase 5 on May 20, Phase 6 on May 25, and Phase 7 on June 1.

The Election Commission of India (EC) on Saturday announced the upcoming Lok Sabha election 2024 dates. As per the announcement of the EC, Lok Sabha polling will be conducted in seven phases, starting from April 19 to June 1 and the votes will be counted on June 4.

    The Election Commission of India has announced the Lok Sabha Election 2024 dates. The First phase to be held on 19th April, the second phase on 26th April, the third phase on 7th May, the fourth phase on 13th May, the fifth phase on 20th May, the sixth phase on 25th May, and the seventh phase on 1st June.

    Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said, "We have 97 crore registered voters, 10.5 lakhs polling stations, 1.5 crores polling officials and security staff, 55 lakhs EVMs, 4 lakhs vehicles," according to ANI.

  • Noted Bollywood singer Anuradha Paudwal joined the BJP here on Saturday ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Addressing a joint press conference with BJP leaders at the party's headquarters, Paudwal praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said she was happy to join the party led by him.

  • Bharatiya Janata Party's Rajya Sabha member from Madhya Pradesh, Ajay Pratap Singh, on Saturday, resigned from the party's primary membership, expressing displeasure over its process of selecting candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, and slammed it for indulging in ''large-scale corruption''.

  • "The election dates (for Lok Sabha polls 2024) will be announced in Delhi in some time. However, people of the country have already announced the results even before the election dates are officially announced. The country has announced 'abki baar 400 paar', and the crowd here at Nagarkurnool is a testimony to that," says PM Modi, while addressing a public meeting in Telangana today.

  • Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said, "It is an important day. The country will get the general elections schedule at 3 pm today."

  • Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that the Lok Sabha elections should be conducted as soon as possible. He urged the Election Commission to consider a date as close as possible.

  • The Election Commission will announce Lok Sabha election dates today at 3 pm during a press conference which will be televised on news channels and will be available live on the ECI social media channels.

  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, “We (BJP) have a track record of 10 years to go to the people with, as well as the agenda for the next 25 years to build a grand and a 'Viksit Bharat' (developed India). The people have faith in our deliverance and are invested in our vision of development. It (400-paar) isn't just poll rhetoric. You can for yourself on counting day. We (BJP) will sail past 300 and the NDA will cross 400.”

  • After the announcement of the Lok Sabha election 2024 schedule, the Model Code of Conduct will be enforced by the Election Commission from today, March 16.

  • The voting process is expected to take place in April and will be conducted in seven to eight phases this year.

  • Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday claimed that the BJP-led alliance would win 13 seats out of 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam in the upcoming parliamentary polls. "We will win 13 seats in Assam this time. PM Modi will become the Prime Minister for the consecutive third time. This election is the election between Modi and Rahul Gandhi," Sarma said.

    He said that the BJP's election campaign will be an economic, socio-development campaign.
