The first phase of the Gujarat elections 2022 commenced today December 1, with voting for 89 seats in the state scheduled this morning.

Over 780 candidates remain in the fray as the first phase of the Gujarat elections 2022 has kicked off today, December 1. The voting for the first phase of the elections began at 8 am on Thursday and will end at 5 pm.
Gujarat has been a stronghold for the ruling party Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) for the last two decades, and it is trying its best through campaigns to maintain its dominant position in the state. The top contenders for BJP in Gujarat are currently Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress.
There are a total of 788 candidates who remain in the fray in the Gujarat elections 2022, with several notable candidates like Rivaba Jadeja, Kantilal Amrutiya Morbi, Bipendrasinh Jadeja, and Gopal Italia to have their fate decided after today’s voting.

The ongoing polling for the first phase of the Gujarat Assembly elections has recorded a 4.92 per cent voter turnout till 9 am. According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), Dhand recorded the highest voter turnout at 7.76 per cent while Porbandar recorded the lowest voter turnout at 3.92 per cent.
