American actress Rose McGowan has launched a scathing attack against renowned talk show host Oprah Winfrey and has called her a lizard. In a Twitter post, Rose has called out Oprah over her friendship with Harvey Weinstein and said she is “fake as they come”.

Rose recently took to Twitter and shared a photo where Oprah can be seen kissing Weinstein, an American former film producer and convicted sex offender. Along with the photo she talked about how Oprah isn’t “real” and supports a “sick power structure” for her personal gains.

“I am glad more are seeing the ugly  truth of @Oprah. I wish she were real, but she isn’t. From being pals with Weinstein to abandoning & destroying Russell Simmon’s victims, she is about supporting a sick power structure for personal gain, she is as fake as they come. #lizard,” the activist wrote in her tweet.

Harvey Weinstein was a catalyst for the #MeToo movement which started in October 2017 following sexual abuse allegations from several women. He was sentenced to 23 years in prison in 2020.

Oprah Winfrey stepped down as the executive producer from Russell Simmon’s #MeToo documentary in early 2020 as she felt "there is more work to be done on the film to illuminate the full scope of what the victims endured, and it has become clear that the filmmakers and I are not aligned in that creative vision.”

In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Oprah had said, "I want it to be known that I unequivocally believe and support the women. Their stories deserve to be told and heard.”

Oprah and McGowan also hold opposite views on the Time’s Up movement. While the ‘Charmed’ actress believes that the organisation is founded on lies, Oprah supports it and also reportedly donated USD 500,000 to help fight sexual harassment in the workplace.
