Priyanka Chopra responds to Cardi B's appreciation post for 'The White Tiger'

Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas on Thursday thanked American Grammy-winning  rapper Cardi B for her appreciation post about, The White Tiger, which had opened globally on OTT over the weekend.

The film is directed by American-Iranian filmmaker Ramin Bahrani and based on Aravind Adiga's Man Booker Prize-winning novel of the same name. It stars Adarsh Gourav, with Priyanka, Rajkummar Rao, Mahesh Manjrekar and Vijay Maurya in other pivotal roles. Priyanka also happens to be one of the producers of the Netflix film. 

Taking to her verified Twitter handle, Cardi B showered some compliments on the film and also on Priyanka Chopra. She wrote, "White tiger is such a great movie. I was crying and angry watching it." To this, Priyanka replied, "Same @iamcardib! Thank you, so happy you enjoyed it." Priyanka followed her tweet with folded hands emoji. 

Soon after Priyanka posted a reply, Cardi B quote tweeted with a sweet compliment for the actress. The rapper wrote, "Yes, You was so sweet and adorable. You was amazing."

Priyanka responded with, "kisses always mama! You the best @iamcardib."


Earlier, Priyanka thanked fans for the positive response to her new release.

"Ending opening weekend with a full heart. I'm blown away by the love for #TheWhiteTiger's release on @netflix this weekend. Your support in watching this film has made it trend globally in the top 10 in less than 48 hours + counting. Thank you to every one of you who watched, posted, shared amazing reviews, and held space for this incredible cast & crew," Priyanka shared on Instagram late on Sunday. 

"I'm so emotional seeing such an amazing response globally to a movie with an all INDIAN star cast! Films led by visionaries challenge us and light fires in our collective souls. Thank you #AravindAdiga #RaminBahrani @mukul.deora @ava @netflix and all the amazingly talented players that made this movie possible and accessible to all," she added. The actress continued: "I am so grateful for your support and for this remarkable film. THANK YOU @gouravadarsh @rajkummar_rao for being the best teammates."

She also shared a picture of herself posing in front of the illuminated title of the movie.

Meanwhile, Priyanka, Rajkummar Rao, and Adarsh Gourav have received honourable mentions in the Gold List selections for their powerful performances in 'The White Tiger'. 

Priyanka has received the honourable mention in the category of the best supporting female actor, alongside other stars including Gong Li (Mulan) and Lea Salonga (Yellow Rose). Rajkummar has received a mention in the category of best supporting male actor. Other actors with honorable mentions in the category include Lucas Jaye (Driveways) and Tzi Ma (Mulan). Adarsh, the breakout star of 2021, has received an honourable mention in the category of the best lead actor, alongside Dev Patel (The Personal History of David Copperfield) and Harry Shum Jr. (All My Life). 

'The White Tiger' has also received an honourable mention in the Gold List in the category of Best Film, along with other movies including 'The Half of It' and 'Yellow Rose'.

'The White Tiger' explores India's class struggle and is told from the perspective of Balram (Adarsh), a lower-class citizen who becomes a chauffeur for a rich landlord named Ashok and his wife named Pinky played by Rajkummar and Priyanka respectively.
