Oscars 2018 saw Hollywood beauties embracing statement-making chainmail dresses, candy hues, and virginal whites with great gusto. The red carpet saw a return to the disco decadence with the likes of Salma Hayek (seen in a shimmery and beaded Gucci) and Gal Gadot (looking every bit the supreme seductress in a shimmery Givenchy number).

Also, a lot of actresses sported primary tones — for instance, Nicole Kidman looked like a million bucks in a cobalt blue Armani Prive with a statement bow accent, while Jennifer Garner channelled her inner femme fatale in an Atelier Versace gown. Candy crush

Saoirse Ronan looked like a bird of paradise in a minimal pale pink Calvin Klein, which stood out in a sea of blingy pieces. Daniela Vega, on the other hand, opted for a fuschia pink pleated halter neck dress and Viola Davis was a vision in a shimmery pink Michael Kors.

The white knights

Call Me By Your Name star Timothée Chalamet stood out among all the dapper men in a custom-made Berluti. Jane Fonda was timeless and elegant in a white crisp Balmain, while Margot Robbie seemed straight out of a fairytale in Chanel.

Metallic mayhem

Jennifer Lawrence, Lupita Nyong’o, and Sandra Bullock knocked it out of the ballpark in fully-sequinned sheathed gowns. While Sandra looked divine in a halter-neck Louis Vuitton ensemble, Lupita appeared every bit the Donatella muse in a figure-accentuating sparkly Atelier Versace. JLaw was quite the charmer in a beaded Dior number.

Primary tones

The red carpet also saw primary reds and blues making their presence felt like never before with the likes of Nicole Kidman opting for cobalt blue. The likes of Allison Janney and Meryl Streep stood out in romantic reds.
