After Tom Cruise announced about heading to space for a film, Russian filmmakers announce an upcoming movie to be shot in International Space Station (ISS).
Earlier this year, it was reported that Tom Cruise is in talks with NASA and Elon Musk's space company SpaceX for an action-adventure movie, which will be shot in space. Now, Russians are planning the same and are in search of a female actor who will go to International Space Station (ISS) to shot an upcoming film, tentatively titled Challenge. As per reports in CNN, the makers are planning to kickstart the shooting in October 2021.
The international portal reported that Russia's Channel One, their space agency Roscosmos and production company Yellow, Black and White are joining hands to shoot the first-ever film in space. Roscosmos released a statement regarding the same and dished out details about the much-anticipated project.
It read as "Roscosmos, Channel One Russia and Yellow, Black and White studio to shoot the first-ever movie in space with the working title ‘Vyzov’ (lit. Challenge). Klim Shipenko (Salyut 7, The Peasant) will direct the movie, with Dmitry Rogozin, Konstantin Ernst, Sergei Titinkov, Eduard Iloyan, Denis Zhalinsky, Vitaly Shlyappo, Alexey Trotsyuk as general producers of the large-scale project
The plot will include a flight to the International Space Station (ISS) scheduled for autumn 2021 on the Russian Soyuz MS crewed spacecraft. Currently, the parties are discussing the details of the future movie, including the scenario, technical capabilities of the filming process, as well as the cast.
The protagonist to fly to the ISS, as well as his backup, will be selected during an open contest. The title of the picture is yet to be confirmed. The movie is aimed to popularize Russia’s space activities, as well as to glorify cosmonaut profession."
The makers are planning to rope in a female actor with clean criminal records and between the age of 24 and 40. She need not be an actor by profession as they are approaching newcomers too. The actor needs to between 150 and 180cm tall and also weigh between 50 and 70 kg. Moreover, her best girth should be about 120 cms.
