Joker Folie à Deux trailer: Joaquin Phoenix's Joker, Lady Gaga's Harley Quinn sing, cause chaos in Todd Phillips musical

The trailer of Joker Folie à Deux, the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Joker, was released on Tuesday, July 23. Joaquin Phoenix will reprise his role as the DC comics supervillain Arthur Fleck aka Joker, while the singer-actress Lady Gaga will be seen as his love interest Harley Quinn. Also referred to as Joker 2, the musical thriller is directed by Todd Phillips, who also helmed the first part.

The trailer shows Joker meeting Harley Quinn in the Arkham Asylum as they set out to create absolute chaos in the world while singing and dancing through the same. The couple will also be seen hosting the Joker & Harley show, in which they decide to "give the people what they want." And, that's when they begin their sinister adventures.

The official synopsis of the film reads, "Joker: Folie À Deux finds Arthur Fleck institutionalized at Arkham awaiting trial for his crimes as Joker. While struggling with his dual identity, Arthur not only stumbles upon true love, but also finds the music that's always been inside him."

The Joker 2 trailer has already received immense love and appreciation from the viewers. One of them wrote, "This trailer is perfect. It gets you hyped without revealing the plot. A lot of trailers these days struggle to do that. Whoever edited this did a great job", while another added, "Now that's a trailer. Everything from the tone, the music, the visuals, all blended together perfectly, cannot wait for this."

Talking about the first part, Joker became the first R-rated film to gross over $1 billion at the box office worldwide. Joaquin Phoenix received enormous praise for his brilliant performance as the titular character and even went on to win the Oscar for Best Actor at the 92nd Academy Awards in 2020. 

After the teaser and the trailer of Joker Folie à Deux, Phoenix has once again become one of the top contenders to win Best Actor at the Oscars next year. The Todd Phillips directorial also stars Zazie Beetz, Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Steve Coogan among others. Joker Folie à Deux releases in cinemas on October 4.
