The couple, who have been together for six years, requested for privacy following the cancellation of their wedding, reported People magazine.

"While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another," Bella tweeted. "We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives."

Cena and Bella, both professional wrestlers, got engaged in April last year during the live broadcast of Wrestlemania 33 and their wedding was scheduled for May 5.

Earlier John confessed that their separate work schedules keep them apart for "months at a time".

"Relationships are hard. Don’t ever think that love is easy. Love is beautiful, but we’ve had to come to the realization after being together for five years that love is not easy," Cena told Us Weekly. "We work every day on us. We have our problems just like everybody else. Some of our problems are very public, some of them aren’t. But we work every day on us. Anytime I get upset, I always just realize that I can’t live without her and I love her and that’s why I cave in on a lot of stuff."

However, the WWE star hasn't revealed anything about this split as yet. The duo was together for six years.

On Sunday, Cena posted two images referring to heartbreak. They were posted without any caption. While one image is of shattered glass heart, the other image is a quote from Walt Whitman that reads, "We were together. I forget the rest."

He also posted a third image that read, "Worst Day Ever!"

On the professional front, Cena just wrapped up promoting his movie Blockers, a raunchy comedy starring Leslie Mann, and Ike Barinholtz along with the WWE star. The movie collected $10 million from 3,418 locations in the sophomore weekend since release. In total, the pic has made $37 million.
