James Bond 'No Time To Die' Box Office Day 1: Daniel Craig's swansong earns $6.8 million in UK, more deets inside

'No Time To Die' marks Daniel Craig's fifth and final outing as the suave British secret agent, wrapping up a 15-year tenure with the franchise.

James Bond, the most iconic and well-known action franchise of all, released its 25th movie 'No Time To Die' starring Daniel Craig on September 30, 2021. Being the first-ever James Bond movie to be released in 3D, the film collected between $6.2 million and $6.8 million on its first day in Ireland and the United Kingdom, as per a report in Deadline. That's actually just 26 per cent below 'Skyfall' (released on Friday) and 13 per cent above 'Spectre' (released on Monday), the report stated. 

According to Deadline, "More than 30,000 people attended midnight screenings in the UK and Ireland on Wednesday night. No Time To Die sold a spectacular 1.62M advance tickets for the opening four days, surpassing Spectre's total advance bookings by over 12% and performing in line with Skyfall at the same time pre-release."

With 772 theatres (25 more than The Rise of Skywalker), 'No Time To Die' is the widest release ever for the UK. In Korea, the movie earned $665,000 on 2,167 screens, on Wednesday. It collected $300,000 via previews in Mexico. 

Besides Daniel Craig, the movie also features Léa Seydoux Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Rory Ben Whishaw, Jeffrey Wright and Christoph Weitz. It will be released in France, Russia and North America next week. However, China and Australia will have to wait till October 29 and November 11 respectively. 

The James Bond series focuses on a fictional British Secret Service agent created in 1953 by writer Ian Fleming. The Universal Pictures and MGM film, part of one of Hollywood's biggest franchises, marks Craig's fifth and final outing as the suave British secret agent, wrapping up a 15-year tenure that began with 2006's "Casino Royale".
