Armaan Zorace, a Cannes-nominated filmmaker is all set to kick off his horror movie — Wraith — for Indian filmmaker Mubina Rattonsey’s Los Angeles based production house. Written and directed by Armaan, it will trace the story of a couple that visits a town in the Middle East where an evil presence surrounds them. As most of Hollywood horror films have explored Catholic exorcisms this will delve into the ideas of possession in Islam.

The movie will also introduce new cutting edge technology to the horror genre, a unique filming equipment called Ghost Cam. Says Armaan, “The Ghost Cam is something I’ve been working on for quite some time now. The technology helps me in minimising the use of special effects during the film’s edit. I want authenticity to be a significant aspect of the film. It is for this reason that I am currently in the process of building on a new 4D sound list, which explores 3D sound in a victim space.”

He adds that it is an attempt to venture into unexplored territory. “Filming a live exorcism is extremely challenging but I want the audience to experience the event in its entirety first hand sans prosthetics or visual effects. There is nothing scarier than a first-hand feel of the event,” he shares. The film will be shot across Seattle and Abu Dhabi starting early next year. With regards to the cast, the makers are in advanced talks with a mainstream Indian actress to star in one of the lead roles.
