A British actor, model, radio presenter, writer, activist and a body positivity advocate Jameela Jamil on Friday took to her verified Instagram account that boasts of a massive 3 million followers, to share a long note stating how she has been receiving "death and rape threats" every time she has raised her voice and extended support to the farmers' protest in India.

In her note, while maintaining that she stands in solidarity with the farmers and those fighting for their rights, Jameela adds that she hopes people are equally pressuring the men to speak up on the issue as they are to women since the former are less likely to be attacked the women in the public eye are.

Jameela writes in her note, "I have repeatedly spoken about the farmers in India over the past few months and what is happening there at the moment, but each time I do I am met with death and rape threats."

She adds, "So while you are pressurising me in my DMs please keep in mind that I am a human being who has some limitations as to what I can handle. I do, however, maintain my solidarity is of course with the farmers in India and everyone fighting for their rights during this protest."

Jameela further writes in her note, "I hope you are also pressuring the men to speak on this subject too as they are far less likely to be attacked the way women in the public eye are."

She concludes with, "To everyone reading this. As I've asked many times before, please read about what's happening."

For the unversed, Jameela, who relocated to the United States in 2016 and is known for her role as Tahani Al-Jamil in the NBC fantasy comedy series 'The Good Place', host of the TBS late-night game show in 'The Misery Index' and as one of the judges of voguing reality competition show 'Legendary', is the founder of 'I Weigh', a body positivity campaign that she describes as "a movement... for us to feel valuable and see how amazing we are, and look past the flesh on our bones".

In the last few days, the farmers protest in India has become a topic of international discussion after personalities like pop icon Rihanna and climate activist Greta Thunberg tweeted on the subject, extending their support to the protesting farmers.
