Taking to his Instagram account, Cavill shared a tribute video to mourn the loss of facial hair that was necessary to grow for his character, August Walker, to look impactful.

Calling it a 'King Stache,' Cavill said that without it, sometimes he has trouble recognising himself.

Tipping his hat to the infamous Justice League reshoots, Cavill said, "It is hard for me to admit, this is not CGI."

For those uninitiated, the Moustache-gate happened when director Joss Whedon did reshoots for Justice League and their schedule coincided with that of Mission: Impossible - Fallout.  The end result was cringeworthy, roughly blended CGI work to get rid of the facial hair.

Set to the tune of Sarah McLachlan's 'I Will Remember You,' the video paid 'In Memorium' style tribute to the 'King Stache.'

Cavill captioned the video: #ShavedButNotForgotten

Cavill will be next seen in Mission: Impossible -Fallout with Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhymes, Rebecca Ferguson, Angela Bassett, and Alec Baldwin.
