Much to the relief of fans waiting for the sequel of the highly-acclaimed sci-fi film Avatar, the shooting for Avatar 2 is on in full swing even while the world is dealing with a pandemic. And what validates that statement are pictures that the official Twitter account of the franchise posted hours ago.
Tapping in on the excitement and anticipation around the sequel, the makers decided to give fans of the James Cameron directed franchise a sneak-peak into the behind-the-scenes of the upcoming sequel of Avatar.
The incredibly amazing pictures, straight from the sets in New Zealand, feature sci-fi queen Sigourney Weaver, 70, performing an underwater stunt while the said pictures are being clicked. In another photograph shared by the team, Weaver is seen showing a big thumbs up to the cameras as she gets papped by the camerapersons.
The pair of behind-the-scenes photographs, posted on Avatar's official Twitter handle, were released on Thursday, months after production on the sequels (five in total) resumed after the coronavirus shutdown was relaxed.
“From the set of the Avatar sequels: Sigourney Weaver never shies away from a stunt, not even when it's underwater!” read a post from Avatar’s official Twitter account.
Shoot for the sequels had been put on hold in March due to coronavirus concerns. However, the makers quickly got back to filming in New Zealand in June, when the lockdown was lifted.

“As many of you are aware, due to COVID-19, we were forced into an unexpected lengthy delay in starting the live action filming we are currently doing in New Zealand. What most of you likely do not know is that the pandemic is still preventing us from being allowed to recommence most of our virtual production work on stages in Los Angeles,” he wrote in a statement.
“Prior to the COVID-19, everything was on track to bring you the first sequel in December of 2021. Unfortunately due to the impact that the pandemic has had on our schedule it is no longer possible for us to make that date. There is no one more disappointed about this delay than me,” he added.
“Most of all, I am grateful to you, our fans, for your support over the years and I promise that what we bring to cinemas will deliver,” he promised.
