World Mental Health Day: Signs and symptoms of anxiety disorder
World Mental Health Day is observed on October 10.
Anxiety disorders can come in many forms including social anxiety disorder, panic disorder and specific phobias.
Anxiety is a normal human emotion experienced by everyone. Generally, one can feel anxious or nervous, when faced with a problem at work, when having to take a test, or having to make an important decision. However anxiety disorders can be different as they can cause distress that interfere with a person's ability to lead a normal life.
Here are a few signs and symptoms of anxiety disorder given by the the Mental Health foundation-
- Rapid or irregular heartbeat
- Fast breathing
- Weakened / tense muscles
- Sweating
- Churning stomach
- Dizziness
- Dry mouth
The psychological impact includes-
- Trouble sleeping
- Lack of concentration
- Feeling irritable
- Feeling depressed
- Loss of self-confidence
