Research conducted at Framingham State University, explained that black tea restrains the body from absorbing glucose sugars, excess of which causes type-2 diabetes, the Independent reported.

Lead author of the research said that their findings suggested that black tea and black tea pomace had potential for carbohydrate hydrolysing enzyme inhibition and this activity depended on high molecular weight phenolic compounds.

The researchers also mentioned that just like green tea, black tea also possesses antidiabetic activity.
