AIIMS will hold a two-day seminar on Probiotics in collaboration with Probiotics Association of India and American Society of Microbiology, to show how probiotics can help reduce fat. The seminar will see some senior professors from the Department of Microbiology who will share their findings from a survey conducted in Delhi.

“Good bacteria or Probiotics increase the digestion process and thus helps in fat reduction. The reduced fat helps with other illnesses as well thus we will be asking for a green signal to perform clinical trials during this seminar,” says Dr Rama Choudhary, Professor, Department of Microbiology, AIIMS.

The two-day seminar will see some names like Pinaki Panigrahi, who wrote the famous article ‘synbiotic trial to prevent sepsis among infants in rural India’. The research conducted by Microbiologists in India revealed that a large proportion of neonatal sepsis in developing countries could be prevented using a Synbiotic (a product that contains both probiotics and prebiotics). For this study, 4,556 infants were enrolled and monitored for 60 days.
