5 foods branded unhealthy that have great nutritional benefits

A recent article in Salon.com, highlights five particular foods branded by many health studies over the years as unhealthy, but actually have great nutritional benefits when consumed in moderation.

Here are the five food we need to incorporate back into our diet: 

1. Eggs

Studies state: It's high in cholesterol and risks causing heart attack.

Benefits: They are not only a great source of protein, but also include omega-3s and B-vitamins.

2. Red meat

Studies state: Considered unhealthy due to its high  source of saturated fat which is puts one in high risk of heart disease and diabetes.

Benefits: However, Fitness magazine reported that a 2010 study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, discovered that there wasn't substantial evidence to link saturated fat to either heart disease or stroke.

3. Butter

Studies state: Consumption of butter which contains saturated fat that causes cardiovascular disease. 

Benefits: Source of  vitamins like A, E and K2, raises the good HDL level in your blood, while lowering the bad LDL.

4. Coffee

Studies state: Coffee was once considered to be the pathway to cancer. However, it is now considered one of the foods that fight cancer, according to the American Institute for Cancer Research.

Benefits: It is more packed with antioxidants, than fruits and vegetables, as well as enhances brain function that protects it from diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson.

5. Avacado

Past studies state: Considered dangerous because of its fat content.

Benefits: It does not increase your cholesterol level and is a source of mono-saturated fat that does not clog your arteries.
