At least 120 persons were affected by enteric diseases in Purbasthali block of East Burdwan district during the past three days, Chief Medical Officer of Health Pranab Roy said today.

Roy said he visited Purbasthali yesterday and today and sent medical teams there from Burdwan Medical College and Hospital and Kalna Sub-divisional Hospital.

The patients were admitted to various hospitals and condition of all of them were stable, he said adding that no new cases were reported during the day.

Health workers are distributing bleaching powder, halogen tablet and ORS in the affected.

Locals people alleged that water pipes were not cleaned for a long time and leakages were found at some points causing the water-borne disease.
