PUBG Mobile India has been banned by the Government of India but in an RTI query, it has said that access to PUBG Mobile is "not illegal".
PUBG Mobile India has been banned by the Government of India ever since September 2020 after tensions between India and China intensified following the clash in Galwan Valley. Although the Government of India has banned the popular game, recently in an RTI query, it clarified some doubts and gave some hope to the gamers. In that query, the Government of India stated that access to PUBG Mobile in India was "not illegal" and that only one version of the app was banned in the country. Now, what does this statement mean? It means that India's gamers can actually play PUBG Mobile's Korean version on their mobiles. What will be the major disadvantage if you play PUBG Mobile's Korean version in India? Players can't migrate their global version IDs to the Korean version of the PUBG Mobile.
However, if one is starved of PUBG Mobile and their Chicken Dinner, this is how you can download the Korean version on your phone. You can download the PUBG Mobile Kr version through a link called https://pubg-mobile-kr.en.uptodown.com/android/download. On the website, it will tell you that this is an XAPK file and that one has to download the official UptoDown Android app to get the APK download on their mobile. The user must ensure that 'Install from unknown source' option is enabled on their phone. Once it is done, PUBG Korean version can be played without any problem.
No issues with playing
If you download the PUBG Korean version on your phone, there will be no problems when it comes to the law or you will not fall foul to the Government of India directive. The only problem is one will have to start from scratch and have a new avatar altogether when you play PUBG Korea version.
PUBG Mobile India is slated for a tentative relaunch of March 2021 but that is not certain. The move will depend on how relations between India and China are at that point in time. The Government of India has made it clear that there will be no special preference given to PUBG Mobile and that the entire ban has been enforced in totality.
