Sorry Bhai
 Cast: Sharman Joshi,  Chitrangda Singh
 Director: Onir
Rating: **1/2

Onir's debut feature, My Brother Nikhil, remains one of the most sensitive Indian films incorporating a gay love story.

The film has been a festival favourite and was followed up by the less effective drama Bas Ek Pal. For Sorry Bhai, the director partners with writer Ashwini Malik for this frothy love triangle, but is let down by the mediocre writing.

The promotional material of this movie gives away the story: Falling in love with your brother's fiancée. And that is exactly what Siddharth, a shy forgetful scientist, does when he arrives in Mauritius for his brother Harshvardhan's wedding.

Harshvardhan's fiancée Aaliyah and Siddharth forge a rather shallow bond which develops into love and leads to a tricky situation on the eve of the wedding. Till this stage, and a little beyond, there are very few surprises.

The interesting aspect of the story could have been the liberal resolution of the love triangle, but an old-fashioned idea of a promise mars even that opportunity.

The absence of chemistry between Chitrangda Singh and Sharman Joshi is another weakness of the film. The gem of the film is bhai's mother. Shabana Azmi steals the show.
