This film is what Sandalwood was waiting for,  as 2010 will end on an all-time high.

Upendra, who returns to direction after a decade, proves that he still has all it takes to churn movies that are ‘his style’, but contemporary in nature. The showman puts forth a message through this film as well, as he ruthlessly mocks the current political scenario.

Upendra plays Subhash Chandra Gandhi, who falls in love with Indira (Nayanthara). Their story has a history and the personal tale has been juxtaposed to present-day Indian politics, as Upendra shows solutions to both the fronts.

The film is classy, yet massy, funny yet intelligent. And if Upendra really does have his eyes set on politics, this one’s a perfect launchpad. Super is clever, for it shows an aspirational vision of India in 2030, where the Rupee is higher than the Dollar, beggars are whites and non-Kannadigas are considered illiterates. No guesses that the front-benchers have a lot to cheer for.

Full marks to Upendra’s direction — he shows that film-making is not just about entertainment, but can be a reality check too. His acting brings out his vintage best. Nayanthara holds her own fort and this meaty role seems tailor-made for her. Music by V Harikrishna is catchy. Imran Sardariya’s choreography matches the beats. Upendra and Rockline Venkatesh have justified their lavish expenses to the fullest.

This film will do to Upendra what Sivaji — The Boss did to Rajinikanth. Watch, be entertained and be inspired too.
