Earlier, Rao had directed the Shivarajkumar-starrer AK47, which was a box office hit, more than a decade ago. However, the latest one — AK56 — which had created a lot of hype, failed to meet the expectations of the cine-goers.

The film bears a serious hangover from the director’s earlier flicks, Lockup Death and AK47, and a few of the stunt sequences does test the audience’s patience quite a bit. AK56 is about Ajay (Sidharth), a volleyball player, who works at an automobile showroom in Bangalore while his parents stay at a village.

In an unavoidable situation, Ajay happens to meet a supporter of Salim (Atul Kulkarni), a terrorist. Police suspect Ajay and send him to Hindalga prison. Meanwhile, Ajay’s mother (Sumalatha) takes the help of four habitual offenders to get Ajay escape from the prison.

Does Ajay get to teach the terrorist a lesson and prove his innocence? See it on the silver screen.

Shirin, the leading lady of the movie, who’s acted in films including Bhoopathy, Dhruva, Sihigali, Yogi, has quite a few spicy scenes with Sidharth. We reckon it was necessary to up the appeal quotient of the film. However, the surprise package in the film is the comedy scenes between Prabhakar and Shobharaj. Even music director Abhiman Roy has done a neat job with the song Kadhu Kadhu Noodthaale.

All criticism aside, for all those who enjoy good action films, this could definitely spice up your weekend.
