What it's about: The story is set in a town called Kumili on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. Sethu (Udhyanidhi) is the son of a PE teacher (Sathyaraj) and he is the librarian of the town. It's when he hunts down the girl who has stolen books from his library that he meets Amy Jackson. She turns out to be a book thief but the two end up meeting again and again. Obviously, there is love in the air. We also meet John Mathew, a Christian priest who runs a home. Meanwhile, Sethu's dad files a complaint against the bar that has opened up near his school. The local rowdy who owns it confronts him and a fight ensues between Sethu, his dad and the rowdy gang. The rowdy is later found dead in the dam nearby and Sethu's dad is accused of murder. Then Mathew is murdered too. A man named Abdul Kamaal comes into the picture. Who is the murderer? What is the motive? Who are the people involved in this murder?

What's good: Director Thirukumaran has tried to come up with a crime thriller set in a small town. Visually the film is a great because it has been shot well. Thirukumaran has played with the colour palette and the greys and blues are vivid on screen.

Udhayanidhi has ventured into the crime thriller genre for the first time after three comedies. The action/fight scenes have been extremely well choreographed and he pulls it off. The first unexpected bar fight is one such action sequence. The actor's dance skills have also improved over the last few films. Amy Jackson is pretty as always and does what is required for the role. Vikranth, as the sniper, has done a really good job. He's actually an underrated actor. The editing is crisp and the movie is kept at just two hours.

What's not: As far as the story goes, it is not gripping enough to be termed a crime thriller. There are not too many twists and the storyline is weak. It doesn't seem plausible that the protagonist, a librarian, is otherwise like a ninja! Music director Harris Jayaraj has scored the music for the film but the songs are all forgettable. Luckily, the BGM is better.

What to do: If you are an Udhayanidhi fan, then you can watch the film.
